Volunteering in the fire service is a unique experience that can be as rewarding and educational as you choose
to make it. Motivation, dedication and professionalism are qualities that successful volunteers must possess.
Members of the Penn Wynne-Overbrook Hills Fire Company not only possess these qualities, but are continuously
seeking to further their knowledge.
The Penn Wynne-Overbrook Hills Fire Company is part of the Lower Merion Fire Department. We provide fire protection
services to the citizens of the community's of South Ardmore, Wynnewood, Penfield Downs, Penn Wynne, Overbrook Hills
and Green Hill Farms. In addition, Penn Wynne also provides Rescue Services for the Township of Lower Merion, and
provides Mutual Aid when requested for the Townships of Haverford and Upper Darby.
Being in close proximity to St. Joseph's University, we allow students to continue and progress in their firefighting
and rescue skills. Also, with our junior firefighting program, we welcome individuals starting from the age of 16 to
learn, train and participate on their paths to becoming a firefighter.
Firefighting is not for everyone, but volunteering is! Whether you are looking for a firefighting or administrative position, we have
opportunities available.
Membership Benefits:
Free Training: Firefighting, Rescue and Medical Training is paid for by the Fire Company. Members are encouraged to attend
various schools of their choice. Members are able to attend training sessions, conferences and expos both locally and
nationally at the expense of the Fire Company.
Incentives: All members are issued uniforms and equipment at no cost.
Fitness: Free membership to a local state-of-the-art fitness center facility.
Internet Access: Enjoy high-speed internet access by using our computer facilities, or bring a laptop and utilize
our wireless internet network. Work from the firehouse while you volunteer!
Equipment: Train with and utilize state-of-the-art fire and rescue apparatus and equipment.
Resume Building: Nothing looks better to prospective employers, colleges and universities than volunteering in the fire
and rescue services.
