May 29 - Six members from Station 21
took part in a morning vehicle rescue drill in the parking lot of Station 21. The drill went over tactics
such as vehicle stabilization, controlling the battery, and front end displacements. The crew trained
using the hydraulic tools extensively to practice vehicle rescue techniques and to try some new skills
members learned at recent rescue classes.
WORKING UTILITY POLE ON MANOA ROAD
May 25 - At 11:10 hours,
Engineer Domenick Crimi donned his luminescent orange, reflective "Safety Officer" vest, to take part in
traffic control on Manoa Road directly in front of Station 21. The need for traffic control
arose due to the special delivery of a new utility pole, that will be installed in the near future
adjacent to Station 21. 3rd Assistant Chief David Watrous stood by in amazement as the new
utility pole was gracefully scooped up from the truck bed by the giant claw, and eased onto the
ground. A good job was done by all on scene. Photos courtesy of Paid Man Chris Millay.
