At 2:27pm, Station 21 was dispatched to the 1000
block of Wood Circle for the alarm system. Upon arrival, crews discovered that rags laying next to the water
heater had ignited. The resulting fire melted the plastic drain plug, creating a geyser of water, extinguishing
the fire. Crews had a difficult time locating the water valve in this ranch style home, but
eventually located it and secured both water and electrical service. The company went available at 3:21pm.
At 07:01 AM, Station 21 along with
Rescue Company 22 (Belmont Hills) were dispatched to Lancaster Ave and Remington Road for a vehicle
rescue reported 3 to 4 vehicles, unknown extent of rescue. Shortly before arriving, Squad 21 was
updated by County that the Lower Merion Police on-scene, reported no entrapment. Squad 21 arrived and confirmed
negative entrapment, recalling Rescue 22. Crews remained on scene to assist Medic 313 (Narberth
Ambulance) with packaging the two injured occupants and providing fluid control. Station 21 went
available at 07:52 AM.

1953 MACK RESTORATION UPDATE
Date:
2/19/05
Today, we received an update concerning the 1953 Mack
Pumper that was originally purchased by the Penn Wynne Fire Company. As mentioned in a previous update,
the current owner, Dave, who lives in Texas, is restoring the unit for use in parades. The following download
is a written update that Dave put together on the progress that has been completed so far.
Recently, we were contacted by Dave all the way
from Del Rio, Texas who had recently acquired a Mack fire truck he had found in the Poconos. It turns out
this 1953 Mack 85-LS 1686 Triple Combination Pumper with Semi-Cab was purchased by the Penn Wynne - Overbrook
Hills Fire Company on April 9, 1953. The final specifications release was finalized on May 26, 1953. The
truck was completed and delivered to Mack in Allentown, PA on December 11, 1953. As mentioned, the truck is
now in Texas where the present owner is currently restoring the unit to its former glory where it will then
be used in parades. Dave has been so kind to agree to keep us updated on this project with pictures throughout the
restoration process, and has forwarded copies of the original shop manual, build record and oversize drawings of
the unit's complete layout. The pictures below show the preliminary work done on the truck, which includes
cleaning off the truck of the many pine needles that were covering it, and leveling the booster reels mounted
on top. As more pictures are received, we will keep you informed on the restoration progress.

STATION 21 BATTLES ROOF FIRE
Date: Time: Units:
2/3/05 9:25am Station 21 Station 26 Air 24 Engine 23 Medic 313
At 9:25am, Stations 21 (Penn Wynne) and 26 (Narberth) were dispatched to the 1300 blk of Garden Road for a dwelling, with a
report of fire in the roof. Shortly after dispatch, Lower Merion Police arrived on scene with smoke showing from the
roof. Per Lower Merion Township SOPs concerning the confirmation of smoke showing, the FAST (Engine 23 - Bryn Mawr) and Air
truck (Air 24 - Gladwyne) were dispatched. Engine 21 under the command of 21-54 (3rd Assistant Chief D. Watrous) arrived
first on location and reported a "3 story, single family" dwelling with "smoke showing from side B-Bravo", and ordered
Ladder 21 to the front of the building. 21-54 established command and ordered incoming Engine 26-1 to go in service with
air packs and hooks. Engine 21 pulled an 1.75" hose line and brought it in the front door. The booster line was pulled as
well to extinguish the fire. Command placed the fire under control at 9:43am. Crews from Stations 21 and 26 checked for
extension and conducted overhaul. An excellent job was done by everyone on scene.
