Today, Penn Wynne members went to Presentation B.V.M. School for a public
fire education event during their Flower Sale. The rainy weather didn't hamper the enthusiasm of the youngsters
who were able to squirt the booster line and check out the crew cab of the engine. Thanks to the event
organizers who provided us complimentary food and beverages.
BASIC VEHICLE RESCUE OPERATIONS CLASS
Date:
4/20/05
Tonight, members finished up the BVR Operations
class at the Lower Merion Township Training Grounds. The group was split in half and performed two rescue scenarios.
Afterwards, the group went to the Belmont Hills firehouse to take the written test. We are pleased
to announce that everyone passed. Next week starts BVR Technician, so stay tuned. Fire wise, it has
been pretty routine. The company has responded to a bunch of automatic fire alarms, a boiler malfunction,
a wooden frame for concrete forming fire, and an uneventful vehicle fire.
21 HOUSE ATTENDS PHILLY SOUL GAME
Date:
4/17/05
Today, members from the brigade headed to South Philly to attend
a Philadelphia Soul arena football game. These tickets were provided courtesy of the Penn Wynne Civic
Association, and their President, Kevin Steele. Members enjoyed a good time together, watching a good game.
Special thanks to the Union Fire Association (Station 28) for covering the station while we were out.
LOWER MERION H.S. VISITS PENN WYNNE
Date:
4/14/05
Today, the students from Mrs. McGuire's Lower Merion High School
class partook in a fire prevention class at our station. Students learned basic fire prevention and safety
tips from Deputy Fire Marshal Matt Maguire and Engineer Chris Millay, with the help of Engineer Sean Reilly.
Students were able to utilize the Lower Merion Fire Department Safety Trailer and got a tour of the firehouse
as well. We would like to thank Mrs. McGuire and her students for spending time at the station with us. A
good time was had by all and hopefully the students will pass along what they learned to their friends.
WACKERFEST AT DELCO 74
Date:
4/9/05
Many members from the 21 House attended the 2nd Annual Delco Fire Event (Wackerfest) held at Primos-Secane-Westbrook Park
Fire Company. In attendance were many vendors selling t-shirts, lights, equipment, and other fire service related items. Included
in the vendors was Public Safety Displays, a company owned and operated by Penn Wynne member Chris Feder who creates custom displays
for public safety memorabilia. A special thanks goes out to John Zachar of the Fire Rescue News Network for coordinating the
event, and the boys at Delco Station 74 for hosting an event in their brand new station. We look forward to attending next years
Annual Delco Fire Event.
RESCUE 21 COLOR CHOICES
Date:
4/1/05
With the arrival of a new Pierce rescue truck on the horizon in the Summer of 2005 for Penn Wynne, many have asked, "What color
will the new piece of apparatus be?" Convention would assume, that it will be the traditional, slime-lime over white to keep
constant with current Station 21 apparatus. In an unprecedented move though, the powers that be have decided to stray from
the traditional colors and have narrowed it down to two color schemes for you, the PennWynneFire.org viewer to choose
between for the new color of Rescue 21. Will it be option "Black over Slime-Lime" (left) or option "White with Black and Orange Striping" (right)? Happy April
Fools Day!
