Today, members from Penn Wynne and a member from the Union Fire Association
(Station 28) went to the township burn building for a class on Basic Tower Rappel Operations. This class
was organized and taught by Penn Wynne Engineer Chris Feder, who is also a state certified
instructor. The class consisted of a brief lecture on terminology and techniques, with an emphasis on
safety. Once this was complete, members were able to perform multiple rappels using Figure 8 descenders
and a brake rack. This was also a great opportunity for those members who recently received the new Morning
Pride turnout gear and Gemptor rescue harness. Thanks to Station 28 for letting us use their equipment.
