The weekend got off to an early start for the company with an early morning fire alarm at the JCC at 2:26AM. This alarm was accidental by the sauna that was left on. At 11:28AM the company went to the Knox Home for another fire alarm. 21-54 (Watrous) arrived and found this to be accidental by an aerosol air refresher, and the company recalled. At 1:21PM, Rescue 21 was added to the rescue assignment on the Schuykill Expressway, but were recalled while enroute by 22 Command. At 2:56PM the company went to the 300 block of Barwynne Road for chemical odor inside. An investigation found that gasoline and household chemicals leaked in the garage due to the heavy rains we were experiencing. The company ventilated and checked for air quality, and was available at 3:21PM. Early Sunday morning we went to the 200 block of Indian Creek Rd for the alarm, which was found to be faulty. Finally, at 12:24PM we went to Palmer Theological Seminary for the alarm system. The system was found to be faulty, and was available at 12:45PM. For this entire period, the company averaged 13 responding members.

ENGINE & RESCUE HOUSING
Date:
10/21/06
Today was a special day for members of the Penn Wynne - Overbrook Hills Fire Company. Neighboring fire companies, dignitaries, and the community got together for the time honored tradition to house our 2003 Pierce Dash Engine and 2005 Pierce Saber/Encore Rescue. President John Derham led the ceremony in front of the firehouse, which featured speeches from Congressman Jim Gerlach, Township Commissioners Lance Rogers and Scott Zelov, and LMFD Chief Fire Officer Chas McGarvey. In keeping with the tradition, we then proceeded to back the new apparatus into the station 3 times: once for God, once for our country, and once for the community. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed food and refreshments, staying for quite some time. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to help celebrate, especially our brothers from Green Ridge who brought Squad 63 to cover the station during the housing. At 10PM, the company was dispatched to the 1000 block of Remington Road for playground equipment on fire. Crews arrived to find a fully involved playground set on fire.

FIRE SHOWING IN ARDMORE
Date:
10/1/06
At 0146 hours, Ardmore Fire Company was dispatched to the area of Drexel and St. Pauls Road for heavy smoke in the area. Before the dispatch was over, County Dispatch upgraded the call to a working house fire in the 100 Block of Drexel Road, bringing Station 23 (Bryn Mawr), Engine 21, and Station 24 (Gladwyne) for the F.A.S.T. and air cascade. Engine 21 arrived second in at the oppsite end of the block of Engine 25 and prepared to lay in. Engine 21's crew helped flake out Engine 25's second 1.75 inch handline, and after knocking down the fire from the outside briefly, helped advance the line to the third floor of the exposure twin. Crews then began to open up the entire third floor, checking for extension. As conditions worsened in the fire building, the evacuation tones were transmitted, and crews backed out until the upper hand could be achieved. Later, Rescue 21 responded at reduced speed with manpower to assist in overhaul. Photos courtesy of Brian Feeney.
