Congratulations to Will Neely on his 18th birthday. Will has been promoted from Junior Firefighter to Firefighter. Will is the second Junior Firefighter (along with Glenn Montgomery) to turn 18 in the last 6 months. This will leave us with only three Juniors left. Hopefully the ranks will be replenished this summer!

ONE LUCKY HOMEOWNER

At 07:50 hours, the company was dispatched to the 1300 block of Sussex Road for an odor of something burning. Notes on the job were that the homeowner observed the odor last night, went to bed, and still had the odor when they woke up. Upon our arrival, we found an electric lawn mower had caught fire, and completly burnt up. Lucky, a twin mattress set, gasoline can, and other household items in the garage didn't catch fire. Members utilized the TIC (thermal imagining camera) to check for any possible extension and removed the mowers remains.
PAST MONTH IN REVIEW

The fire prevention program for the company is really paying off! All of our hardwork the members have put in shows. We've had a fairly uneventful month. The company has run a few "smells and bells". On May 1st, a rescue box was dispatched for Rolling Road and Severn Lane in our district for a subject stuck in a vehicle. An investigation revealed a tragic fatal industrial accident. The company assisted the police with the scene and was available an hour later. On May 15th, Ladder 21 relocated to Upper Darby company 37 while they operated on a multi-alarm apartment complex fire. The 4 hour cover up resulted in no calls. An hour after returning from the cover up, the company was dispatched to City and Lancaster for a vehicle fire. The fire was extinguished prior to our arrival, and members secured all hazards. We'll have to wait and see what is in store for us next.
