Community volunteers were awoken early on this cold morning, after a patrolling township police officer came across an audible fire alarm with water running from St. Mark’s Armenia Church on Haverford Road. The fire brigade made entry into the newly built addition to find water pouring from the ceiling. Crews secured the water supply to the sprinkler system and electricity as a broken sprinkler pipe had burst in the ceiling and was showering water everywhere. Crews did what they could to help clean things up before going available. The job was turned over to the township building department and fire department office.
TOWNSHIP PRESENTATION
Date:
11/14/07
Tonight was a special occasion for one of our members. The officers of the company accompanied Firefighter Christopher Feder to the township board room as he was presented with two United States flags. Firefighter Feder is a member of the Pennsylvania Army Nation Guard, and his unit is being deployed to Afghanistan and goes on active duty in December. Chris is going to take the two flags with him overseas and have them flown on the base. Then, when he returns after his year long mission, one flag will be flown at the township building and the other at the firehouse. Commissioner Lance Rogers presented Chris the flags, and he received a standing ovation at the end of the ceremony.
VEHICLE INTO THE GREENHILL
Date:
11/04/07
The middle of the afternoon was interrupted when a rescue assignment (Station 21, Rescue 22) was dispatched to the Greenhill Condominium for a report of a vehicle into the building with persons trapped. Rescue 21 and the Chief arrived on location to find one vehicle into the lobby, however all parties self extricated prior to fire department arrival. Crews from both Rescue and Engine 21 secured all hazards, and removed one of the glass doors as the bottom support for the door was destroyed in the accident. LMT codes enforcement was notified to respond.
