RESCUE TO THE EXPRESSWAY
Date: 2/12/08 During the overnight hours, Rescue 21 was added to the rescue box for westbound I-76 in the area of the Gladwyne Exit. Station 22 (Belmont Hills) initially was dispatched for the accident with injuries, however information quickly came in that this was going to be a rescue following a police chase of a robbery suspect. The vehicle apparently left the expressway and traveled some distance in the air and off the road, ending up on nearby River Road by Mill Creek Road. Prior to the arrival of rescue services, all parties self extricated, and the assignment was scaled back to Engine 24 (Gladwyne) for the stand by. One patient was flown via aero medical services in unknown condition. The pictures say it all.

FIREFIGHTER FEDER UPDATE
Date: 2/11/08 It has been a little more than a month since Senior Firefighter Chris Feder departed for Ft. Bragg to begin intense, tactical training for his upcoming deployment “to the sand box”. In the not-to-distant future Chris departs for his year long mission against terrorism. He is focused, and ready to go.

Chris obtained clearance to send us a few pictures. The first is him all “tacted up” with his equipment. In the second photo, Chris tried using some of that excellent government technology to his advantage. He attempted to fine tune his Humvee radio to pick up either the LMFD dispatch channel, or County 800 Mhz frequency. Unfortunately, no amount of soldering could quite do the trick. You’ll just have to rely on website updates to find out what is happening, Chris

RIT TO ARDMORE, THEN DOOR POP
Date: 2/10/08 Sunday evening dinner was interrupted as a working fire box went out for the 100 block of West Montgomery Avenue in Ardmore. The police arrived and confirmed fire in the basement of a 12 unit, two story apartment complex. Rescue 21 with 6 members responded as the RIT Team. Crews from Ardmore and Bryn Mawr had the fire under control before the first 20 minute mark. Soon after the fire was placed under control, Communications dispatched a rescue box for Remington Road and Lancaster Avenue in our local. The crew from Rescue 21 was released by 25 command and started back. Engine 21 arrived first and went in service with the combination tool for a door pop.

FIRE IN THE BATHROOM
Date: 2/5/08 Around noon time today, the box assignment was transmitted for the 800 block of Beechwood Road for a report of smoke in the attic. As Engine 21 was arriving, FM 34-1 (F. Hand) confirmed smoke in the attic, and to pull a 1 ¾ inch handline. Crews from Engine 21 and Ladder 25 searched inside and found a small contents fire in a bathroom. The fire was quickly extinguished, and crews spent several minutes ejecting the smoke from the house.

VEHICLE ON A WALL
Date: 2/2/08 On this Saturday afternoon, a frantic citizen came into the firehouse to report a motor vehicle crash one block down the street. Since our unofficial motto is “If you ask for help, then we’ll help”, the C-Platoon staff went out to render aid. Engineer Millay reported to County of a one vehicle crash into and on top of a wall. There was no entrapment, but with fluid leaking from the vehicle, and the precarious placement of the car, he requested the company dispatched. Engineer Millay continued to provide medical care while the remainder of the company cribbed and secured the vehicle and applied oil dry. The company was in service for approximately 30 minutes.
