For tonight’s drill, Engine and Rescue 21 traveled to the Montgomery County Fire Academy to utilized their recently renovated burn tower. With the Lower Merion burn tower condemned, the township has reserved several nights for the Lower Merion companies to use their facility. Tonight members practiced high rise and standpipe operations, and the accompanying operational positions that go along with it (command, lobby control, staging, division, etc). It has been a while since members have been able to train using real fire, and this new environment was a welcomed change.

BVR DRILL
Date:
4/16/08
This Wednesday night drill was a BVR refresher class taught by Bucks County Public Safety Training Campus. Members reviewed stabilization and hydraulic rescue operations using multiple vehicles. This was an excellent review for our senior members, and our newer members were able to comprehend the basics by hands on scenarios.
RESCUE LOCAL
Date:
4/2/08
In the late afternoon, a rescue local went out for Remington Road and Lancaster Avenue in our first due for a reported person trapped after a motor vehicle crash. Rescue 21, under the command of Deputy 21, arrived and confirmed a two car crash with one trapped. The crew from the rescue stabilized the vehicle, and popped the passenger side door. In the pictures below, pay attention to the location of the car battery in the one vehicle. On this Dodge Charger, the battery was located in a storage compartment in the trunk.
Ironically, right after we confirmed this call, County came back with a fire alarm at St. Sahag Church on Clothier Road. Station 25 (Ardmore) was dispatched to cover this call, and found a faulty system.
