For Penn Wynne firefighters, tonight's drill focused on "ladder work". As a crew assigned to ladder work, or truck work, firefighters practiced their skills of forcible entry and ventilation.
Firefighters practiced their skills on opening doors with the new township door prop.
Firefighters also practiced a skill known as "vent, enter, isolate, and search (veis). Making their way through an upper floor window, taking the window out, entering and conducting searches.
They also practiced their roof work. Ventilating a burning structure is an important component of fire suppression. Tactically cutting holes in a roof can assist interior firefighting crews by releasing extreme heat and smoke. This greatly improves conditions inside the structure. |
